Baked Ham with Demerara-Honey Glaze


5-8 lb. Spiral or Bone-in Ham
1/4 cup Demerara sugar
1/4 cup clover honey


Purchase an aluminum foil roasting pan with built in rack (or place a low rack inside the bottom of the pan you are using to bake the ham).
Preheat the oven to 350F degrees.
Place the ham on the rack in the roasting pan. Cover the ham with tented foil and bake for one and a half hours.
Meanwhile, mix the sugar and honey in a saucepan, cooking over medium heat until smooth and sugar is mostly dissolved. After the ham has cooked for the one and a half hours, pour the Demerara-honey mixture over the ham and continue baking the ham until throughly heated (total cooking time for ham rule of thumb is 20 minutes per pound. Ham should register 160F degrees on a meat thermometer). All the while basting occasionally with the pan drippings.
Allow the ham to “rest” for 15 minutes before slicing.
Goes great with scalloped potatoes, whole green beans and don’t forget the applesauce!
